A great website on the Olympics
This website has great info to be used for researching the Olympics! I can easily see taking my students to a computer lab and having them research difference topics on the Olympics (from the history, to the controversies, etc.)

Malala's story
Malala first became famous as a teen blogger. At just 14 years old, Malala spoke up against the Taliban and began blogging about how girls should have more rights to an education.
In early October 2012 when Malala was on her way home from school in a van with friends, the Taliban came on to the bus and shot Malala in the head and neck. Two other girls were injured as well. Malala was sent to recover in the United Kingdom. When the Taliban was asked about the incident, they said that if Malala lived they would go after her again.

Who is behind Mona Lisa's Smile?
This is great for my Renaissance Unit!
Researchers are trying to find the model for Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa smile. They are looking for her remains.
Here is a video clip about it:
And here is a link to the article itself.

Here is the NY Times lesson that I based my lesson on.
Here is the video that I used to show at the beginning (9 minutes long), breaks down the drug cartels

Good Sites for World Civ Primary Sources
Use this link for primary documents. The link takes you to a textbook's websites with tons of link to other primary source documents. I've already used this for our Renaissance day.
